Judges 15 Week 4 : Day 2

written by Jackie Cona

Biography

My name is Jackie Daniel Cona. My husband and I are new parents to a baby boy. I work as a music teacher and love to run. Keith and I belong to a Community Group and have attended Browncroft for three years. I grew up in a Catholic family.

Reflection

I thought about some times in my life that I wanted to get revenge for something. Even when I think of it now, I can feel anger well up if I meditate on it for a while. After an important failed relationship ended, there were many moments of fantasized revenge. How horrible that feeling was in my spirit. Revenge so often results in regret, especially when it is acted on in violent ways. Many of today’s violent crimes and wars are probably just the result of revenge.

God still granted Samson victory over the Philistines, although the Israelites nearly lost their leader over his behavior. Samson asked God for water and he quenched his thirst. Even in the midst of Samson’s sin and revengeful spirit, God was with him and had compassion on him.

I see God’s love in the midst of our failings. Samson’s sin cost him dearly, but God worked His plan into Samson’s life and the lives of His chosen people. Thank you God for giving forgiveness and grace when it’s undeserved.

Your fellow traveler,

Jackie
