Happy New Year!

Start The New Year Strong

December 31, 2020

Check out the reflection below by Peter Englert, Browncroft’s Adult Ministries Director.

Engaging the Bible shapes our thoughts, decisions, and emotions. Daily reading of God’s Word prompts us to listen to how He speaks to us.

During the autumn, I had the opportunity to interview Dr. John Plake on Browncroft’s Why God Why podcast. Plake has three decades of experience serving as a pastor, missionary, professor, and researcher, and he now works as Director of Ministry Intelligence at the American Bible Society. He mentioned a study he had conducted with Harvard researchers, and I was struck by one of his key findings.

He said, “People who had a strong relationship with the Bible, they had higher flourishing scores than people who didn’t have a strong relationship with the Bible.”

For you to flourish in 2021, we believe you can develop a deeper relationship with the Bible. Our hope is that you would start each day in God’s Word.

READ365

At Browncroft, one opportunity we have to do that is through our Read365 plan to read the entire Bible over the course of a year. Using the YouVersion app, participants engage two chapters a day – one from the Old Testament and one from the New Testament – starting January 1, 2021.

Here’s how you can join:

  • Download the YouVersion app and create a username.
  • Join the Read365 Plan that best fits you by clicking one of the links below:
    • Click here to join a group plan where you can interact with other Browncrofters (Limited to 150 people).
    • Or click here to engage the plan personally.
  • Start reading God’s Word.

Again, this is one opportunity. If you have questions about Read365 or others reading tools, please contact me

We look forward to engaging the Bible with you in 2021!

– Peter Englert / Adult Ministry Director

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking,
correcting and training in righteousness,
so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped
for every good work.”

(2 Timothy 3:16-17)
