Browncroft is a church that is growing by the grace of God. Week after week, we’ve seen new faces, heard new stories, and watched more people step into community with Jesus. That growth is both a blessing and an opportunity.
On Sunday, November 16th, we’re taking a step of faith together: Browncroft is adding a third Sunday worship service at 12:00 noon.
For about a year and as recently as May we have been surveying the congregation and engaging in intentional prayer to determine when and how to make more space. But this isn’t just about making more room or adding another time slot. This is about extending the table.
A Space for You
We are approaching Thanksgiving in a little over a month, and many of you are already thinking about how you are going to seat your extra family members and friends who will warm your home at your meal table. In my childhood home we had a beautiful oak table that comfortably sat six. When we wanted to host loved ones old and new, a ritual would be undertaken where my siblings and I would go into various closets around the house and produce leaves that would be added to extend the table, as well as seats from the basement and (the now legendary) kitchen computer desk, to the point where we could welcome more and more to our family dinner, filling the table with food, laughter, and all who were able to attend. This is the spirit behind adding a third service.
There Is a Seat for You: A Call to Commit, Serve, and Pray
At the heart of this new service is a simple truth: there is a seat for you. Whether you’ve been part of Browncroft for years or are exploring faith for the first time, we want to make room for you—not just in a seat, but in community. We plan to have the cafe and coffee bar open into the noon hour, creating a space for conversation, connection, and shared life. We will be launching on November 16th (without kids programming), and whole families are welcome in service. These, and other natural differences, help us to imagine a time that won’t just feel like another service, but like pulling up a chair to our extended family table.
In summary, this new service is an act of faith, and we believe God will use it in ways we can’t fully imagine yet. But to start strong, we need our church family to build it together.
We’re praying for:
- 200 people to commit to attending the noon service for a year, helping form its foundation
- 40 people to serve faithfully, creating a warm and welcoming environment
- 600 people to commit to praying for one year, asking God to move in powerful ways
At our annual congregational meeting this past Tuesday, our Pastors and Elders shared an updated mission statement: “Inviting one another into a life fully committed to Jesus Christ.” Launching this service is one way to live that out—to make sure there’s a seat for anyone who wants to encounter Jesus on a Sunday morning.
At the very least, the noon service ensures space for more people to experience Christ. At its best, it could become a new expression of worship and community at Browncroft, and something God multiplies beyond what we can imagine.
On November 16th, we’re extending the table, and there’s a seat waiting for you.
