Promises of God from Scripture

December 23, 2023

Christmas is just two days away! I hope it will be a time of rest, reflection, and celebration for you and your loved ones as you remember the glorious gift of our Savior, Jesus. This past Sunday, Pastor Rob reminded us about the importance of “pondering the promises of God.” As we conclude this Advent season, I thought I would provide you with a list a Bible verses filled with promises of God for you to reflect on. I pray they will be a blessing to both you and those you choose to share them with!

Psalm 103:8 – The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.

Ephesians 1:4-5 – For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight. In love He predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and will.

Psalm 23:2 – He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters…

John 3:34 – For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit without limit.

Psalm 37:24 – though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with His hand.

1 Peter 5:7 – Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.

Psalm 84:11 – For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does He withhold from those whose walk is blameless.

Proverbs 3:5-6 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.

Isaiah 64:4 – Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for Him.

Psalm 45:6 – Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.

Isaiah 43:2 – When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.

Psalm 68:6 – God sets the lonely in families, He leads out the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.

Romans 8:1 – Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Romans 8:28 – And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.

Galatians 6:9 – Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

Deuteronomy 4:31 – For the Lord your God is a merciful God; He will not abandon or destroy you or forget the covenant with your ancestors, which He confirmed to them by oath.

Psalm 37:18 – The blameless spend their days under the Lord’s care, and their inheritance will endure forever.

2 Timothy 2:13 – If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot disown Himself.

Isaiah 53:5-6 – But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

Jeremiah 33:3 – Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.

Hebrews 13:5 – Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

Romans 5:1 – Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Isaiah 61:1-2 – The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn.

1 John 1:9 – If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

2 Corinthians 9:8 – And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
