We Invite You to Our GriefShare Support Group

As I sit and watch the early November snow fall, one thing is clear: the holiday season is fast approaching. With it will come all the happy things associated with it– the turkeys, the presents, the family gatherings, and the holiday cheer. But for some, the holidays come as a reminder of what is lost. They bring with them the inescapable weight of grief.

Grief is a universal human experience, a journey that none of us wish to undertake. But sooner or later, it becomes a part of our lives. The pain of losing a loved one can be overwhelming, and the road to healing may feel long and lonely, especially during these times of joy and celebration.

At Browncroft, we understand the weight of grief and the need for support. If you or someone you know is experiencing grief this holiday season, we would like to invite you to an important event coming up on Tuesday, November 7th: GriefShare: Surviving the Holidays.

This seminar will provide practical tips and emotional support to help you cope during Thanksgiving and Christmastime. We will talk about dealing with emotions, having a plan, handling social events, and looking forward.

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”

You do not have to register to attend this one-time session. However, if you are looking for a longer-term group, please consider registering for our 13-week GriefShare support group. This group will meet Sundays at 10:30am here at Browncroft, starting in January. It will offer a safe and supportive environment for those navigating the road of grief. Each session will consist of a video seminar followed by a group discussion about the video content.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 reminds us of the importance of coming together during times of grief: “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”

We understand how difficult it is to grieve the loss of a loved one. But you don’t have to face this journey alone. Let us walk this path with you. Your facilitators and fellow group members will be there to listen, share, and support you through the process. Together, we can find healing and hope in the midst of our grief, knowing that God’s comfort is always there for us.

If you would like to learn more about either the GriefShare: Surviving the Holidays event on November 7th, or the 13-week GriefShare support group starting in January, send a note to amatz@browncroft.org.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to us. It is our prayer that we may support you in any way we can as you go through this difficult season.

We are beginning the new year with an extended study of the Ten Commandments. These words embody God’s will for human life as fully as any teaching in all of Scripture. The whole Bible reveals the meaning of the Commandments and informs us how to live, act, and think in light of them.

Christmas Is for Everyone

What I love most about Christmas music is its unerring ability to put me in the true Christmas spirit. When I listen to it, particularly the biblical songs, I’m able to just be in the moment and stop stressing about everything that needs to be done by December 24th. That’s why I’m so excited that this Sunday we are having a special Scripture and Carols service to commemorate the season.

The Season of Giving

Christmas is a season of giving. We remember God’s great gift to us in the birth of Jesus our Savior. We celebrate the coming of our Lord with our family and friends, and together as a church. Whether it be in your home or neighborhood, or by participating in the meaningful events and services on campus, our prayer is that you’d express and experience the hospitality and generosity of Christ throughout this season.
