Reflecting on Next 2025: A Gathering of Next Gen Leaders

Last week, I had the incredible privilege of attending Next 2025, an exclusive gathering of Next Gen and Family Ministry leaders from around the country. This was more than just a conference—it was a space for connection, collaboration, and seeking God’s vision for the future of ministry. I left feeling both inspired and deeply encouraged, and I wanted to take a moment to share some reflections with you, our church family.

One of the most powerful aspects of Next 2025 was the opportunity to meet and pray with other leaders who share a passion for reaching the next generation with the gospel. There is something so life-giving about sitting across the table from others who understand the joys and challenges of ministry. We shared stories, exchanged ideas, and wrestled with important questions: How do we disciple children and students in an ever-changing culture? How can the church be a place where families thrive? What does it mean to truly invest in intergenerational relationships?

Throughout our time together, one theme kept surfacing—discipleship is not a program; it’s a way of life. We were reminded that ministry is not about creating the most exciting events or the most polished curriculum, but about walking with people in authentic relationships, pointing them to Jesus in every season of life. We are called to equip families, engage every generation, and build a culture where faith is lived out daily.

Every member of our church has a role to play in shaping the faith of the next generation.

Another key takeaway was the importance of creating spaces where young people feel seen, heard, and valued. In a world that often isolates and overwhelms, the church has the opportunity to be a refuge—a place where kids, students, and young adults find belonging and purpose in Christ. This requires intentionality from all of us, not just those serving in Family Ministry. Every member of our church has a role to play in shaping the faith of the next generation.

As I return from this gathering, my heart is full, and my prayers are focused. I’m praying for wisdom as we continue to dream about what’s next for our church. I’m praying for God to raise up leaders—mentors, teachers, and encouragers—who will pour into the lives of children, students, and families. And I’m praying for each of you, that God would stir your hearts for how you can be a part of this vital mission.

I’d love to invite you into this conversation. How is God calling you to invest in the next generation? Maybe it’s serving in kids or student ministry, mentoring a young adult, or simply taking time to encourage a young person in your life. Whatever it may be, know that your role matters. Thank you for being a church that values discipleship, community, and the flourishing of the next generation. I’m excited for what’s ahead and grateful to be on this journey with you!
